What this policy covers
This covers the ShoppaLite pre-launch website only. We are not live yet, so we do not process payments, hold seller accounts, or handle buyer orders. When the product launches, this policy will be replaced with one that covers the service itself, and we’ll tell the people on our list before that happens.
What we collect
- Your email address — only if you type it into the register-interest form.
- Anything you send us — the content of emails or WhatsApp messages you choose to send.
- Basic analytics — pages viewed, approximate location (country/city level), device and browser type, and how you arrived. Collected through Google Analytics; see our cookie policy.
We do not ask for your name, phone number, address or payment details anywhere on this site.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To tell you when we launch and send the early-access offer — consent, which you give by submitting the form and can withdraw at any time.
- To answer you when you contact us — legitimate interests, in replying to your message.
- To understand how the site is used so we build the right thing — consent for analytics cookies where required.
What we don’t do
- We don’t sell, rent or trade your information.
- We don’t send you unrelated marketing, and we don’t pass your address to other companies to do it.
- We don’t make automated decisions about you.
Who else can see it
Only the services that make the site run:
- Our hosting provider — serves this website and processes standard server logs.
- Google Analytics — measures site usage. Data may be processed outside your country, including in the United States, under Google’s standard contractual clauses.
- Our email provider — stores the interest list so we can email you at launch.
We may also share information where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Email addresses on the interest list are kept until you ask us to remove them, or until 24 months after launch if you never became a user, whichever comes first. Analytics data is kept for 14 months. Emails and messages you send us are kept for as long as needed to deal with the matter, and up to 24 months after.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to show you what we hold, correct it, delete it, or stop using it — email our contact form and we’ll act within 30 days.
If you’re in the UK or EU, the UK GDPR and GDPR give you these rights, plus the right to data portability and the right to object. You can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
If you’re in Nigeria, the Nigeria Data Protection Act gives you equivalent rights, and you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
Keeping it safe
The site is served over HTTPS. Access to the interest list is limited to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, but we don’t hold anything on this site beyond an email address, which limits what could ever be exposed.
Children
This site isn’t aimed at anyone under 18, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy we’ll post the new version here, and for anything significant we’ll email the people on our list.
